Help with Sexual Issues
Remember the last time you had sex…
… or shall I say, attempted sex… it was disappointing again, right?
Frustrated! You wanted to talk about it, but what do you even say at that point?
You’ve hashed it out, and nothing has really changed. And you really don’t want to make it worse.
So the only thing left to do is roll over or leave the room. And of course, there’s always the option of ignoring the problem and watching something on Netflix.
After a while, it doesn’t even seem worth it to try to initiate.
So, it’s time to ask yourself…
… how long do you want to go on like this?
You’re wanting the sexual part of your relationship to be hot like it once was, or you’re wishing it could be great for the first time. Either way, it’s hard to know where to start.
And what you’ve tried so far really isn’t working.
Feeling alone, lost, and pretty much hopeless? As though sex is a chore, an obligation, or just super stressful?
Sex can actually be pleasurable…
… so let me help you break the cycle of bad sex.
It’s time to work with me when you have difficulties with:
- Sexual desire: Not wanting sex at the same time as your partner or having trouble getting “in the mood”
- Distraction during sexual activity: Thinking “Is it gonna happen this time?” or “Did I remember to text the nanny about where I left the note for the teacher?” or even “I wish I was somewhere else.”
- Figuring out why sex just isn’t enjoyable: Perhaps it’s physically or emotionally painful, or you’re just not getting what’s so great about sex
- Becoming orgasmic: Especially for women—whether alone, or with a partner, or both
- Figuring out sexual orientation or identity: Feeling worried or wondering what to do with your curiosity once you’ve finished all the Google and Reddit searches
- Integrating spirituality with sexuality: Grappling with how to navigate your sexuality within your faith
- Erections: Getting them and/or maintaining them, wondering why it’s hard (no pun intended) to “perform,” or feeling confused that the pills aren’t working
- Premature ejaculation: He’s coming before it’s wanted
- Dealing with an STI (sexually transmitted infection): The emotional toll can be pretty challenging, and you don’t have to navigate it alone
- Consummating your marriage or relationship: It’s just not happening for some reason
- Making sex hot… again or for the first time: Exploring with your partner how to increase pleasure
- Vaginismus: Difficulty or even impossibility for the vagina to be penetrated
- Sexual pain (due to interstitial cystitis, vulvodynia, fibroids, endometriosis, or other pelvic pain): Helping women and couples find sexual and sensual pleasure in the face of pain (see Vaginismus and Sexual Pain page)
Whatever you are experiencing, I cater my approach to you and your situation.
Understanding you and exactly what you’re going through is super important to me. Whether you’re an individual woman or a couple, I can help.
We’ll talk in my office or in the privacy of your own home if we do video sessions.
If talking about sex is awkward for you, that is fine! And totally normal. I specialize in helping it to feel more comfortable. To lighten the mood, I may make a joke here or there.
How It Works
If you come in to work on your sex life with your partner, I will usually spend the first two sessions with you both, asking lots of questions about what’s happening, and then I’ll like to see you each for an individual session to more fully grasp the difficulties.
After this initial assessment period, we’ll begin the work to break the cycle and get you on your way to more peace and pleasure!
There’ll be some educational components, specific suggestions, as well as assignments.
Exercises at home may involve certain types of touch, and I’ll provide you with new approaches and perspectives that’ll help you feel more relaxed and freer when it comes to sex.
If you’re a woman who wants to work on your sexual issue with me individually, you’ll have the entirety of each session to focus on finding peace and pleasure in sex. Although sometimes you may want to work on other areas of your life, and that is fine, too (see Care for Women page).
We’ll figure it out as we go along together…
… at a pace that makes sense for you.
Our work may be as simple as me educating you on what is actually healthy, normal, and ok.
You may have all the help you need once I’ve given you some specific suggestions—and you see that they actually work! And that sex is great.
Or we may need to do some deeper work together, healing past experiences that may be affecting you today.
Imagine looking forward to sex…
I get that it can be awkward to reach out for help around sexual issues, but I am glad to help you work through this challenging time.
